“Raising girls is awesome”
Raising girls is different . The world doesn’t point out the unique differences as it does for boys. But dads of girls learn that raising girls is just as rewarding and difficult as raising boys because even though daughters are not physically stronger than their elders, they have enormous power in other ways. I recently had a conversation with Allen Rossum to discuss the perspective of raising girls, the importance of a father being present in a kid’s life, and the advice to future fathers. About Allen Rossum
Allen Rossum is a Former American Football Cornerback and Return Specialist . He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft . He played college football at Not re Dame. Rossum also played for the Green Bay Packer s, Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49er s and, Dallas Cowboys. He is the principal at Cocke and Finkelstein, INC and the Owner of The Rossum Group.
The Rossum Group is a full- service commercial construction company based in Atlanta, GA. Project s have included libraries, water reclamation plants and other government and department of transport projects.

Learning fatherhood Fatherhood is always an adventure, whether it has t o do with getting up in the middle of the night with a crying baby or balancing toys on the stairs. It ‘s about talking to your kids about their feelings and spending time with them – doing whatever makes them happy. Allen Rossum explained the challenges he faced when he became a father. He didn’t know anything about parenting since his parents were separated. However, he took a step back and imagined how he would love to raise his kids and did his best . He learned the bad and the good through his
family and friends.
How to father your daughters differently
It is no secret that raising daughters is very different from raising boys. Research has shown us that girls raised with healthy, caring fathers tend to have higher self-worth, they are healthier and they do better in school. However, you have to learn the secrets of raising them. Girls are so emotional and sensitive and can be difficult to parent . Allen made so many mistakes before knowing how to raise his four daughters. He realized that how he talks and punishes them affected their next day. So, he decided to look at their personalities. Allen realized that although the daughters grew up in the same household with the same parents, they were so different . How he trained himself to treat them differently.
Playing a role of a father to the athletes
Just as it ‘s important that a father guide his children, it’s equally important that he be a positive role model. To guide young athletes on the field and in life, you must be a capable coach, drill sergeant , and athletic trainer all rolled into one. A father who can play such roles deserves a reward. Allen plays the role of a father to the athletes all the time. Most young athletes face difficulties on and off the pitch. It’s the work of the coach to guide them and make sur e they are okay.
Coaching and fatherhood
Fatherhood is hard. For some, it’s so hard they’d rather not do it… ever . Allen explained the attributes he acquired from coaching that really helped him in being a father. He learned that being a good father to your daughter requires patience just like sharpening an athlete to reach their maximum potential.
Advice to future fathers
Allen Advises future fathers to cherish all their kids and always be there for them. Also, he urges them to include all their kids in decision making. It will increase their courage in facing the different decisions that have to be made while navigating life.
