Fatherhood is a journey!

From the challenging times To when it becomes smooth as baby’s bottom. But it only takes the toughest at heart to survive. Some men have sailed through and others are still struggling in this regard. The question, however, is –

WHAT IS FATHERHOOD?

He puts this first question to his quests. And they responded as follows:

GUEST1: YAO CARR: 45 Years old (custody of 2 kids – 21 & 12 years old) – He says that fatherhood is raising your children right and being there for them at all times.

GUEST2: JAMES GILBERT: 54 Years old (custody of 3 kids – 30, 29 & 24 years) – says that fatherhood is like a blueprint for children. That shows them the routes fathers took and also points out the mistakes they made so that their kids can avoid them.

HOW DO YOU PUT VALUE ON YOUR SEED (CHILD)?

Carr comes through hard and says that to put value on his seed the value has to first start with himself.

Indicating that if he values himself, he will be mindful of whom he lies with which inferably puts value on what he procreates (child).

James on the other hand puts it simply – it all starts with selflove. He then posits that teaching your kids where to go and where not to go puts value on them.

WHAT TAUGHT YOU MORE ABOUT FATHERHOOD?

Allen talks about the fact that he indirectly learnt fatherhood from his dad.

Carr on the other hand hints that the presence of his dad and his ability to provide for him and his siblings taught him more about fatherhood.

And in the long run, that experience taught him to be responsible when he found out that his ex was pregnant with his child.

James also had a different story to share. He learnt about fatherhood from some of the old men in his neighborhood and emulated their deeds because his dad was away. He revealed that his dad later came back and he equally taught him a thing or two that made him a better dad.

QUOTE

The quote below was shared during the show and as insightful as it reads, I thought it wise to put it at this latter part because it is a sad reality.

How can any man survive this journey?

Well, the answer is in the I AM FATHER podcast, a show hosted by Allen Ervin & Friends that captures everything about fatherhood. They tell it all. And so, if you are a father, a potential father or a woman filling the void of a father but could use some tips and insights on how to make this journey a smooth one for you, then you may want to check out the I AM FATHER podcast. On the episode one of the show, Allen Ervin talks about the concept of
FATHERHOOD.
Drawing on statistics that shows that “children without fathers are five times likely to be in poverty or commit crime, nine times likely to drop out of school, and twenty times likely to go to prison” Allen, 49 years and in custody of 3 kids (26, 18 & 14 years) sets the scene with some questions.
